Lakshman Sruthi musical evening

The singing sensation Lakshman Sruthi troupe regaled the audience with old and new hits at Kamarajar Hall for ‘Navarasam’, the Kodai fest they have organised.

After an invocation to Lord Ganapathi – Mahaganapathi in Nattai - the chorus rendered Rudhram which reverberated in the hall.

Airtel super singer, known for his ebullience, rendered a melodious piece from the film Paiyya Nil nil avalidam sol. He was swaying to the number while singing which made even the gathering tap their feet.

The lead female vocalist sang an old number – Chittukuruvi - originally rendered by P Susheela. She has a shrill voice that suited almost all the songs.

‘Kalangalil aval vasantham’ was melodiously presented by Krishnaraj, the famous playback singer. He also rendered ‘Thanjavuru mannu eduthu’ which he sang for a movie.

The audience wanted some of Ilayaraja’s melodious hits and so the singers sang ‘Pothi vacha malliga mottu’ from ‘Mann Vasanai’. They captured the mood and gave life to this sedate piece with their rich and powerful voice.

A kid dressed in a colorful pant and shirt danced and sang for Kamal Haasan’s evergreen classic ‘Ilamai idho idho’ .It made some youngsters dance along with the kid .The scene was made vibrant with the burst of myriad colours and smoke as is generally done in a light music show.

The orchestra of Lakshman Sruthi was excellent with the players in sync with the singers. It was like cloudburst with songs coming one after the other.

It was nostalgic for many people as they heard their favourite old-time hits. The youth enjoyed the show as the singers belted new songs also. It was a refreshing musical experience with Lakshman Sruthi.
