Pushpavanam
Kuppusamy is a name to reckon with in Tamil music world. A man
who gave identity to Tamil folk music is multi-faceted person,
who is a singer, composer, lyricist, writer and above all a
great entertainer. Pushpavanam Kuppusamy has completed his
masters and M Phil in music at the University of Madras,
Chennai. And, that's where he met Anitha, also a student of
music. The couple started off as folk song singers in
competitions and concerts. He was accorded a honorary doctorate
for his contribution towards Tamil music by Sathyabhama
University, Chennai. His penchant for folk songs is evident as
he has released a host of music albums which are popular across
the globe, wherever Tamil community live.Pushpavanam Kuppusamy
has to his credit over 200 devotional albums besides a host of
Thamizhisai Padalgal. A thought-provoking author, Pushpavanam
has come out with a series of books which includes
Makkalisaippadalgal, Siruvar Padalgal, Pazhamozhikkadhaigal and
Kuzhandhaippadalgal. Besides hosting several programmes and
appearing in many special events in various satellitte channels,
Pushpavanam Kuppusamy has performed in over 3000 stage concerts.
He has travelled far and wide across the globe and sung in
almost all countries. A man of many awards including Kalaimamani
from Tamilnadu government, Keenly interested in gardening
besides writing stories, Pushpavanam Kuppusamy has done
extensive research on the topic "Folk Music is the basis for the
development of Classical Music". His ultimate aim is create a
folk arts Center at Chennai....
