Lata's brother goes down the memory lane
Lata Mangeshkar's brother and noted music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar has revealed that a problem in the legendary singer's vocal chords in 1960 forced her to remain away from microphone for over a year.

Speaking at a programme, Hridyanath said the melody queen remained away from the microphone on the advice of Ustad Ameer Khan for a year and observed total silence for almost six months.

"Though her career was at its peak during those days, she religiously followed the advice of Ustad Ameer Khan and did not even step out of Mumbai. However, after a year she returned to the music world," he said.
