Music gets its share in Kalaimamani awards
 
Names of a host of musicians featured in the Kalaimamani awardees list released by the Tamil Nadu government Friday night. The awards will be presented to them by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at a function scheduled at Valluvar Kottam for February 13.

Music composer Bharadwaj, K N Shashikiran, Veena artistes Rajesh Vaidya and Srinivasan, carnatic vocalist Gayathri Sankaran, Gayathri Girish, V Narayana Perumal and playback singer Kalyani Menon have been selected for the coveted honour.

Also there in the list are the names of Kudanthai J Deviprasad (violin); J Sivakumar and NS Rajam (mridangam artistes); Tiruvarur S Saminathan and K V Ramanujam (flute artistes); T Suresh Sivan (devotional musician); Tirukkadayur Muralidharan (nadaswaram artiste), Reddiyur Selvam (Tavil artiste) and A Hemnath (Bharatanatyam dancer).

Says Rajesh Vaidhya, "I would like to dedicate this award to Sri Kanchi Paramacharya. My friends have been asking me for a party. I will host them one soon."
