Ganga was born on 16th Dec. at Kozhikode, Kerala. Her Parents were Professors. As a child she was not exposed to music much but was learning Carnatic Music like anyother child. She got interested in singing with the encouragement of her guru Sri Haripad K.P.N. Pillai and also Mrs. Lakshmi her Music Teacher in School. She has won lots of prizes in inter School Competitions for Carnatic and Light Music. During her College days it was her friends who inspired her to try her luck in movies.

In june 1992 she went to Chennai with her father. It was Mr. Maragathamani (M.M. Keeravani) who gave her the first Voice Recording. It was for a dubbing movie (Aanenna Pennenna) form Telugu to Tamil. Later she joined Mr. A.R. Rahman’s group singing harmony and Track Voices. In the year 1993 she completed her graduation in B.A. English Literature. She has got a Diploma in Carnatic Music, Sangeetha Ratna, from Music Academy in 1995.

Her first lead song was released in 1995 which was in Malayalam movie, Pakshe. She had sung a duet with Mr. K.J. Jesudas and Music was by Jonson. Her first Tamil song was in 1997 for the movie Ponmanam, Music by S.A. Rajkumar. In 1999 she got her first Telugu opportunity again from Mr. Keeravani. She was Lucky to have sung 4 songs in the movie Aakasha Veedhilo. Later she sang more than 40 songs for him in Telugu and considers him as her Godfather. He even introduced her to the Kannada field in the movie Deepavali.

Till now she has sung nearly 250 songs all together in the 4 South Indian languages (more than 100 in Telugu, 50 in Tamil, 30 in Malayalam, 15 in Kannada) She has sung in various Devotional Albums. Few of the movies she has sung are:

Tamil Movies:

Ponmanam, Taajmaha, Kadalpookkal, Mayan, Samudram, Varshamellam Vasantham, Arasu, Devathayekandan, Pokkiri etc. The songs Azhage Brammanidam for Devadaiyai Kanden and Mambazhamam Mabazham from Pokkiri were super hits.

Telugu Movies:

Aakasha Veedhilo, Bava Nachadu, Sambha, Aadi, Subbu, Na Autograph, Okariki Okaru, Narasimhudu, Simhadri, Lakshmi Yogi etc. The songs Cheema Cheema in Simhadri and Lakshmi Bava in Lakshmi were superhits.

Malayalam Movies:

Pakshe, Chronic Bachelor, Akale, Mullavalliyum Then Mavum, Sathyam, Kanakasimhasavam etc. The songs in Pakshe, Chronic Bachelor and Satyam were super hits.

She has travelled all over the world with various artists for more than 1000 shows.

And also to Srilanka, France etc with Tipu, Karthik, Harish Raghavendra etc.

She was awarded best Female Singer by Tamilnadu Cinema Kalai Manram twice.

In 2007 the Lions Club Golden Cultural Capital honoured her as Gaana Kuyil.

She is learning Hindustani Music from Mrs. Meghana Dandekar and Western Classical from Ms. Nina Menezes. She is married to Mr. V. Sittrarasu who is a leading photographer in the film industry.
